You've got to remember that although a complaint has been made and the council are 'looking into it' that is by law what they have to do. Although it is mega gash that someone even made a complaint about trails that have been very well built and very well maintained the council has to take action on any complaint it receives...just like any other company as by law they have to have a complaints process in place. If this is not followed and they come across as bias to a particular side then they may be liable. All you can do is take the mature road, maybe organise an afternoon for council members and a few locals to come for a walk around with the more mature ;) members of the digging crew and explain how the trails were built, how they are maintained and guide them step by step through the biking side of things....gotta remember 90% of claims made are by people that haven't actually got a clue about the activity they are complaining about, they just see big scary jumps and think little jimmy is just going stroll over, attempt something too big for himself and then end up in hospital!! On the plus side I have just signed over management of everything cycle related down in Totnes, we currently have Kye Forte's old skate park open to the public for private hire use (cheapest in the country) and have 240 acres which we will be expanding to make the most of over the next couple of years. Visit www.fortitudebikepark.co.uk for more info.
